Efecto del clima en las pesquerías de abulón y langosta espinosa en Baja California, México

Resumen

Las pesquerí­as de abulón y langosta en la costa de Baja California entre 1950 y 2011, muestran tendencias opuestas, mientras la captura de abulón desciende, la de langosta es ascendente, siendo parte de un mismo ecosistema, y que ambas pesquerí­as son explotadas por los mismos pescadores, y considerando que la tendencia de calentamiento del ambiente marino durante el periodo de estudio. Se trata de identificar las variables que han determinado la variación de las capturas, y en el caso de la langosta evaluar la influencia del esfuerzo de pesca. Las variables ambientales se identifican con los í­ndices: ENOS Multivariado (MEI), Oscilación Decadal del Pací­fico (DOP), Oscilación Giro del Pací­fico Norte (OGPN), y variables locales como el índice de Surgencias (IS) y la temperatura de la superficie del mar (TSM). El análisis se centra en la variación de largo plazo o baja frecuencia, por lo que los datos son suavizados con ventanas de 5 años. Se examina la variación estacional en dos periodos el cálido y el frí­o. El análisis de componentes principales identifica el mismo patrón de variación para Los í­ndices MEI, DOP y TSM, por lo que se usa el primer componente como representativo de los tres (F1). La captura de abulón se correlaciona inversamente con el F1, a diferencia del caso de la langosta, a la que parece favorecer la tendencia al calentamiento, pero en este caso el esfuerzo explica mejor la tendencia.
