Ditrichocorycaeus anglicus (Copepoda; Poecilostomatoida), New Basibiont of Pseudohimantidium pacificum (Bacillariophyceae) in Bahía de La Paz, Gulf of California

In samples collected in the Bay of La Paz it was observed that copepods Ditrichocorycaeus anglicus are used as basibionts by diatoms Pseudohimantidium pacificum. One specimen of D. anglicus from nine collected in March 2016 presented high epibiont intensity by P. pacificum (108 cells adhered throughout the body); three had low epibiont intensity (5-7 diatoms per individual). The sea surface temperature presented an interval of 19-23 ºC in the sampling stations where this copepod-diatom association was observed.
