Dr Whitehead, “Peter”, lived his last years in the city of La Paz, Baja California Sur, where he was working on his “Coda”:The Clupeids of Northwest Mexico, a work that was left unfinished when cancer killed him on 7 May 1992. In the Ichthyological Collection of CICIMAR-IPN, he is always remembered with affection and admiration, 32 years after his departure.
