Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word
  • Where available, DOI and URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Manuscript is an original text and was not created using generative text models form artificial intelligence, or this models were only used to improve the manuscript.
  • The submission is a research article, short report, review article, new methodology, essay or book review within the scope of the Marine Science domain.
  • The manuscript is formatted using double-line spacing and 12-points Times New Roman font (including tables, figures and footnotes)
  • The manuscript is formatted in US letter-size paper with lateral margins of 2.5 cm (1 inch).
  • All pages are numbered starting from the title page.
  • I've followed the other submission guidelines provided in this link.
  • I have signedthe licensing and copyright agreement and I have included it in the submission files.
  • The submission includes an Originality Letter following the example from the Author guide.

Author Guidelines

Article Processing Charges or APCs

There are no article processing charges involved in the submission, review or publication of manuscrits in the journal.

 

CICIMAR Oceánides publishes original papers from a marine scope, v. gr. Topics from marine biology, ecology and geology, physical and chemical Oceanography, as well as meteorology, fisheries, and aquaculture. Contributions can be received: Articles, extended reports about the own themes of the journal Notes, original contributions that have not been submitted simultaneously to another journal. Likewise, the journal includes reviews and essays that contributes to the development of a branch of science and articles from formal invitation of the editorial committee. Replies of papers previously published in CICIMAR Oceánides are also accepted. In all cases, clarity and congruence between the title, the problem and its statement, as well as the study hypotheses will be demanded. CICIMAR Oceánides accepts books reviews and critiques, which refers to the transcendence of a particular work.

The journal its included in Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA, Ecological abstract, Oceanography Literature Review, BIOSIS (Zoological record), Periodica and the Thompson Journal Master list. All manuscripts must be submitted to the Editor of CICIMAR Oceánides via email and in DOC (MS Word) or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) formats, including tables and figures in the same file . Manuscript will be reviewed by pairs specialized on the subject. Authors can suggest reviewers, supplying their email, contact address and area of scientific experience (preferably internationally recognized). Likewise, authors can request the avoidance of referees inadequates for the reviewing due to conflict of interest. The editor will return to the authors, without any evaluation, the manuscripts that wont fit within the scope of  CICIMAR Oceánides. Those manuscripts that does not follows the requiriments of the present instructions will also be returned for a correction before any review. Galley proofs (PDF format) will be sended to authors, which will be responsible for the corrections and to the returning in no more than two weeks since reception. In the contrary case, the Editorial Council may correct o delay the plublication of the manuscript.

Pre-printed versions of the papers will be sended to the authors, who will be responsible for small error corrections and to resend in no more than two weeks since their reception.

Manuscripts must be typed using double line space, Times New Roman font, 12 points font size (as well for figure and table captions, footnotes, et cetera), and in US letter paper size, with lateral margins of 2.5 cm (1 inch). All pages must be numbered starting the title page.

English language is recommended for manuscript submission, although papers written in Spanish language might be published. Notes will be published in English language. As a recommendation, articles must include: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledges, and references. Words that will be printed in italics (specifically latin names of organims and mathematical symbols within the text) must be underlined in the manuscript. Mesurements will be expresed as units from IS, using the abbreviation of the International Standards Organization (ISO). Geographic localization will be expresed as latitude and longitude using N, S, W, E. 

The Title must be presented in both English and Spanish; descriptive (informative) type is prefered from indicative o thematic; a short abbreviated title must be included, which must not exeed 40 characters.  Following, the names, institution and address of the author (including the correspondance email) and co-authors must be indicated, differenciating each institution of the participants with consecutive arabic numbers. 

The abstract must be sended in both English and Spanish languages (300 words limit), inlcuding in a single paragraph objectives, results and conclusions, mentioning the essentials of the new contibuted knowledge; bibliographic references will be acepted only when they are neccesary. Must contain 2-3 phrases introducing the subject, the contents of the research and the state of the art; 2-3 phrases where the results are highlighted in a general context that shows an advance of the subject and a postulate with the main conclusions.

Five keywords not included within the title must be required in both English and Spanish, which allow to identify the contents of the research in electronic databases. 

Tables and figures, as well as their captions, must be presented consecutively with Arabic numbering in separated pages. The captions must be short and explicative. The repetition of information between tables and figures must be avoided. Tables and figures will be cited inside the body text by their number (figures in abbreviated form i.e. Fig.). The first reference in the text for a figure or table must be indicated in the margin of the body text. Tables must be designed to be adjusted to the printed page. There will be no vertical lines but only below the first and the last row.

The printed version will include only high quality photos in greyscale. The colored illustrations will be presented only in the online version (PDF). The bibliographic references must be in alphabetic order. In cases where the reference includes the same authors, the list must be ordered chronologically. References must include full title and page number.  

Privacy Statement

The data collected from registered and non-registered users of this journal falls within the scope of the standard functioning of peer-reviewed journals. It includes information that makes communication possible for the editorial process; it is used to informs readers about the authorship and editing of content; it enables collecting aggregated data on readership behaviors, as well as tracking geopolitical and social elements of scholarly communication.

This journal’s editorial team uses this data to guide its work in publishing and improving this journal. Data that will assist in developing this publishing platform may be shared with its developer Public Knowledge Project in an anonymized and aggregated form, with appropriate exceptions such as article metrics. The data will not be sold by this journal or PKP nor will it be used for purposes other than those stated here. The authors published in this journal are responsible for the human subject data that figures in the research reported here.

Those involved in editing this journal seek to be compliant with industry standards for data privacy, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provision for “data subject rights” that include (a) breach notification; (b) right of access; (c) the right to be forgotten; (d) data portability; and (e) privacy by design. The GDPR also allows for the recognition of “the public interest in the availability of the data,” which has a particular saliency for those involved in maintaining, with the greatest integrity possible, the public record of scholarly publishing.
