We conducted a sampling campaign during April and May of 2005 aiming to determine the bathymetry of La Paz Bay. The sampling array consisted of a zigzagtracking on an inboard motor vessel, along the area circumscribed by the quadrilateral (1) 24° 47' 31.2" N - 110° 39' 32.4" W, (2) 24° 47' 16.8" N - 110° 30' 32.4" W, (3) 24° 15' 18" N -
110 ° 20' 52.8" W and (4) 24° 10' 48" N - 110° 20' 56.4" W. Closest edges of the sampling array were approximately 4 km apart. Depth records were sampled each 50 m using
a GPSMAP Color Sounder; we recorded a total of 9,024 depth entries. Average, maximum and minimum depths recorded by the Sounder were 71m, 324 m and 2.6 m, respectively. We generated a bathymetry map by using the Triangular Irregular Network interpolation method. Analysis based on this dataset should consider daily tide corrections and data gaps below 200 m depth. athymetry data set is available from the authors upon request.
