Sponges of the genus Aplysina produce bioactive compounds of pharmacological importance exhibiting activities antibacterial and anticancer. Although of its importance little is known about the temporal variation of its bioactivity, therefore that the objective of this work is to describe the Seasonal variation of the antimicrobial activity of Aplysina gerardogreeni. These collected seasonally in Punta Arena de la Ventana, Baja California Sur, Mexico, during an annual cycle (2008) by diving SCUBA. With the specimens, they prepared organic extracts of each season of the year and were tested against Escherichia coli strains and Staphylococcus aureus using the method diffusion on agar. The extracts were active against E. coli and S. aureus with an evident variation in their bioactivity, depending on of the time of year. In general, Autumn extracts showed the highest activity, presenting inhibition halos between 22.4 and 22.6 mm, while the lowest activity against the two strains was presented with the spring extracts. This results show that the chemical study of these sponges has great potential in the search for compounds with pharmacological activity.
